City issues reminder of parking instructions and traffic restrictions in advance of events scheduled for weekend of August 3-4, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events scheduled for the weekend of August 3-4, 2013. 

Whitney White Linen Night
On Saturday, August 3, Julia Street from South Peters Street to St. Charles Street will be closed from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Satchmo SummerFest
On Saturday, August 3 and Sunday, August 4, Barracks Street from Decatur Street to North Peters Street will be closed from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Satchmo SummerFest Parade
On Sunday, August 4, 2013, starting at 12:00 p.m., the Satchmo SummerFest Parade will begin at Gov. Nicholls Street and Rampart Street, proceed down Rampart Street to St. Ann Street, U-turn at St. Ann Street, proceed up Rampart Street, turn right on Esplanade Avenue, and disband at the Old U.S. Mint (400 Esplanade Avenue). 

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking. This includes blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection, or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.
