City Issues Reminder of Parking Instructions and Traffic Restrictions in Advance of 2017 Joan of Arc Parade

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of the 2017 Joan of Arc Parade scheduled for Saturday, January 7, 2017. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly. 

At 7 p.m. the parade will depart from Toulouse and Decatur Streets, proceed down Decatur Street to Conti Street against traffic, turn right on Chartres to St. Peter Street and stop in front of St. Louis Cathedral (615 Pere Antoine Alley) for a blessing of the ceremonial St. Joan of Arc sword. Pedestrians will be allowed to enter St. Louis Cathedral for the Sword Blessing. The parade will continue on St. Peter Street to Royal Street, turn right on Royal Street against traffic to St. Ann Street, turn right on St. Ann to Chartres Street, turn right on Ursuline Avenue, turn right on Decatur to Washington Artillery Park where the event will disband.

Parking enforcement personnel will be monitoring for illegal parking, including blocking hydrants, driveways and sidewalks, or parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk, intersection or stop signs. Motorists are also reminded to park in the direction of travel on one-way streets, and with the right wheel to the curb on two-way streets.
