Monday Events to Honor the Life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

January 13, 2017

NEW ORLEANS – On Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday Planning Commission members and other special guests will host a program on the steps of City Hall for the City’s annual MLK Day celebration.
Following the program, the 31st Annual Memorial MLK March will begin the nearly 1.5-mile route. Marchers will go down Loyola Avenue toward Uptown. After Loyola Avenue turns into Simon Bolivar Boulevard, the parade will turn right on Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, head toward S. Claiborne Avenue and end at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Monument on S. Claiborne Avenue and Felicity Street.
