City Issues Traffic Reminders in Advance of Port of New Orleans Florida Avenue Bridge Closure

November 03, 2017

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans issued traffic reminders in advance of the Florida Avenue Bridge closure tomorrow, Nov. 4, which is being conducted by the Port of New Orleans. The public is encouraged to be patient and prepared for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

The Florida Avenue Bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 4 from 7 a.m. until 12 noon. During this closure, the bridge will be partially raised to allow replacement of worn counterweight guide rollers. The bridge will be fully raised or lowered to accommodate marine and rail traffic.

Since October 23, the roadway at the Florida Avenue Bridge has been closed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to allow minor structural repairs on the lift span. Additional closures of the roadway may be scheduled at a later date.

For questions or updates, visit portno.com/bridges or call the Port of New Orleans at (504) 945-8113.
