Mayor Landrieu and RTA To Celebrate Launch of New North Rampart Street/St. Claude Avenue Streetcar

NEW ORLEANS – On Monday, October 3, 2016, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and the New Orleans Regional Transit Authority (RTA) officials will join New Orleans residents and business owners to celebrate the launch of the new $41.5 million bond funded North Rampart Street/St. Claude Avenue Streetcar line extension.

Aviation Director Iftikhar Ahmad Announces Departure From Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Iftikhar Ahmad announced his departure as Director of Aviation at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. He is leaving the Airport effective October 12th to serve as the President and CEO of Rhode Island Airport Corporation (RIAC) to lead their six airports including T. F. Green International Airport.

Statement From Mayor Landrieu On Approval Of $1.1 Billion In Federal Funding To Combat The Spread Of The Zika Virus

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu issued a statement on the approval of $1.1 billion in federal funding to combat the spread of the Zika virus. At this time, there are no locally transmitted cases of the Zika virus in New Orleans or Louisiana; however, travel-related casts of Zika virus have been identified in New Orleans and elsewhere in Louisiana.

Traffic Advisory: S. Broad St. at Gravier St. to be Closed this Weekend

NEW ORLEANS — Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for S. Broad St. Beginning tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m., S. Broad St. river-bound lane at Gravier St. will be closed to vehicular traffic until Monday, Oct. 3 at 5 a.m. to facilitate installation of underground utilities. Construction crews will be onsite working throughout this lane closure.

Traffic Advisory: Jackson Ave. between Clara and Willow Streets to be Closed to Traffic beginning Monday, Oct. 3

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for Central City. Beginning Monday, Oct. 3, 2016, Jackson Ave. will be temporarily closed between Clara St. and Willow St. The City’s Department of Public Works contractor, Hard Rock Construction, LLC, is scheduled to begin installing a new waterline at this location as part of the Jackson Ave. Infrastructure Improvements Project. Construction will last approximately one month.

City of New Orleans Lists Over 170 New Adjudicated Properties for Sale

NEW ORLEANS -- Today at noon, the City of New Orleans will list over 170 new adjudicated properties available for sale at These properties were adjudicated to the City due to unpaid property taxes. The properties went unsold at tax sale and in many cases have been off the tax rolls for years, not generating annual tax revenues for the City.

Fit NOLA Announces September Healthy Hero

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans Health Department’s Fit NOLA initiative, Whole Foods Market New Orleans and Rock and Roll NOLA announced Alexandra Marie Jones as the recipient of the September 2016 Healthy Hero award. A “Healthy Hero” is a New Orleanian dedicated to improving the physical and nutritional wellness of their community.

Mayor Landrieu, City Officials Remind Residents New Flood Insurance Rates Going Into Effect

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Landrieu and City officials reminded residents that new flood insurance rates are going into effect on Sept. 30, 2016. More than 53 percent of all properties in New Orleans were removed from Special Flood Hazard Areas (“A” zones) and as a result, will benefit from more affordable flood insurance.

Mayor Landrieu, City Officials to Remind Residents of Updates to New FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps that Go into Effect this Week

NEW ORLEANS –TOMORROW, September 27, 2016, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join City Officials to remind residents of the updates to the new FEMA flood insurance rates that go into effect for New Orleans this Friday, Sept. 30, 2016. The new FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRMs) are available online where residents can view information about their property by navigating to their state, parish and local address.
