A Celebration in Hollygrove-Dixon

On Saturday, April 29, Hollygrove-Dixon neighbors gathered for a ribbon cutting and christening of the Celebration Church Life Transformation Center at 8606 Marks St. Residents and Celebration Church parishioners were excited about the new addition to the neighborhood, as Pastor Dennis Watson, Neighborhood President Brenda Lomax-Brown, and Center Director Rhia Smith delivered words and performed the ribbon cutting.

Participate in a City-Assisted Evacuation Exercise

Hurricane season is approaching. In preparation, the New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP) and Evacuteer.org are conducting a full-scale simulation exercise of the City-Assisted Evacuation plan on Wednesday, May 17, 2017. NOHSEP is seeking hundreds of volunteers to participate in this exercise to role-play as evacuees. Lunch and parking will be provided.

Mayor's Interfaith Prayer Breakfast

On Friday, March 31, 2017, Mayor Mitch Landrieu hosted faith leaders from across the parish at Dooky Chase’s Restaurant to discuss pressing issues in the spiritual community. After a few words and a blessing from Archbishop Gregory Aymond, attendees enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by New Orleans’ own Leah Chase and family.

Police Community Advisory Board Orientation and Training

On January 28, 2017, veteran and the newest members of Police Community Advisory Boards (PCABs) completed an orientation and training. Held at the UNO Lindy Boggs International Conference Center, this event brought members of the community together with the leadership of New Orleans Police Department and the Department of Justice for an overview of the NOPD organization and the role of the PCABs in our community.

Neighborhood Leaders Nominated for the 2016 Mayor's Community Excellence Awards

We'd like to thank everyone who took the time to nominate a neighborhood or community leader for the 2016 Mayor’s Community Excellence Awards. We received over 100 nominations in 7 different categories, highlighting some of the amazing work and contributions our neighbors are making to the city of New Orleans. Winners will be announced in advance of Saturday's Summit Soiree.
