Neighborhood Capacity Building Initiative (NCBI)
The NCBI is a collaborative training program designed to enhance community development across New Orleans through training, skills development, and small grants that build neighborhood and organizational capacity. Backed by the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Engagement and executed in partnership with Neighbor Works America, the effort brings together eight diverse non-profit organizations to build community capacity for local change.
The NCBI offers two programmatic components:
Collaborative Training Program (CTP)
NOLA Community Building Grants or Creating Communities for Change Grants
The Collaborative Training program (CTP) is a training component that increases opportunities and strengthens skills for effective community building across the City of New Orleans. The CTP helps ensure that neighborhood residents across the city have access to quality community building skill training. It does this by enhancing the skills of a local cohort of community trainers, who in turn will provide accessible, high quality training to neighborhood leaders.
The NOLA Community Building grants are one-time grants that were awarded to targeted neighborhood groups for the purpose of executing strategies and projects that strengthen action-oriented effectiveness, foster greater collaborations, and create sustainable relationships with government and non-government partners.
