Two Alarm Fire at Strip Mall in Lakeview

Monday, July 7, 2014 at 11:46 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received reports of a fire at 900 Harrison Avenue in Lakeview.  The first company arrived on the scene at 11:51 a.m. to find the wall on fire in the rear of Mondo’s Restaurant which is in a one-story, wood frame strip mall, with flames extending to the roof.  A two alarm was struck at 12:01 p.m. due to the type of building and exposures.  The fire was brought under control at 12:21 p.m.  The most extensive damage was to the rear of Coral Reef Pet Shop with minor fire damage and heavy smoke damage, Mondo Restaurant and NOLA Snow has smoke damage; all are without electricity. The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD), Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Entergy Electric and American Red Cross assisted this incident.  There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation.
