NOFD Battles Three-Alarm Fire in the 7th Ward

On Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 11:14 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a dwelling on fire in the 2500 block of New Orleans St.  The first fire company arrived on the scene at 11:18 a.m. and found a one-story abandoned wood-framed dwelling with fire coming from the left front of the house. The fire began to spread to the neighboring duplex at 2526-28 New Orleans St, prompting a second-alarm at 11:26 a.m. and subsequent third-alarm at 11:51 a.m. The house at 2526-28 New Orleans St was an occupied dwelling, fortunately no one was home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported and the cause of the fire is currently under investigation.  The New Orleans Police Department, New Orleans Emergency Medical Services, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal, American Red Cross and Entergy were all on the scene assisting with the mitigation of this incident.  


Twenty-one NOFD units carrying sixty-nine Fire Operations personnel were used to fight this fire, bringing it under control at 12:16 p.m.
