Firefighters Respond to Two Alarm Fire at Hidden Lake Apartment Complex

On Monday, December 26, 2015 at 9:37 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to 7001 Martin Drive, the Hidden Lake Apartment Complex.  Firefighters arrived at 9:43 pm to find fire coming from a second floor apartment in building “C”.  A second alarm was called at 9:48 as firefighters evacuated the building. The fire started near a second floor apartment and spread  to the third floor of the same apartment before firefighters were able to contain and extinguish the blaze. Two residents were in their apartment at the time of the fire and escaped without injury. One resident from the opposite side of the building fell and injured her leg while escaping from her apartment.  She was transported to the hospital by EMS. There are 12 units in building “C”, one unit sustained heavy fire damage while three others sustained smoke and water damage.  Sixteen NOFD units carrying forty-two firefighters responded to this incident.  The cause of the fire is under investigation.  The New Orleans Police Department, Entergy and the American Red Cross responded to this incident.
