NOFD Battles Three-Alarm Fire in the Heart of the French Quarter

On Sunday, November 12, 2017 at 11:58 p.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a fire in a hotel in the 800 block of Toulouse St. The first fire company arrived on the scene of The Oliver House Hotel at 822 Toulouse St. at 12:04 a.m. and found a three-story masonry construction hotel with heavy fire in the rear.

Daylight-saving time ends Sunday, November 5th and once again the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD), in conjunction with Energizer Batteries and the International Association of Fire Chiefs, would like to remind area residents, to test your smoke alarms and change the batteries in your hard-wired smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. This should be done this weekend when you turn your clocks back.

It's time for Fire Prevention Week, and from October 8th-14th the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) has joined forces with the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), the American Red Cross (ARC) and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal (LSFM) to inform local residents about the importance of planning and practicing at least two escape routes in the case of a home fire.
