Two Alarm fire at Raising Cane Restaurant in Algiers

April 05, 2013

New Orleans, LA. – On Friday, April 5, 2013 at 09:54 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department responded to a call of a fire at Raising Cane Restaurant located at 4009 Behrman Highway in Algiers, LA.  Firefighters arrived on the scene to find the restaurant heavily involved in fire. They were no customers in the restaurant at the time of the fire but six employees were working.  One employee who was in the dining area stated a man with a hooded sweat shirt walked in with a plastic gallon container containing a clear liquid and walked over to a center booth. The man quickly poured the contents over the area and then used a cigarette lighter to start the blaze. The man then ran from the restaurant as it went up in flames. An employee said the man’s hood covered his face. Two employees were in the drive-thru area and the other three employees were in the kitchen during the incident.  Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers.

Twenty-one units carrying 48 firefighters were used to bring this fire under control at 10:46 pm.  The New Orleans Police Department and ATF also responded to assist the NOFD with this incident.

The fire is under investigation.
