Register Your Surveillance Cameras with the 8th District

Fox 8 Story:

SafeCams8 is a public safety project of the French Quarter Management District (FQMD) in partnership with the New Orleans Police Department’s 8th District.

The goal of SafeCams8 is to develop a comprehensive list of all the privately owned video surveillance cameras in the 8th District that record activities occurring on a street or sidewalk. The list will allow the 8th District to expeditiously contact a camera owner or operator when police access to a camera's footage is needed to solve a crime or facilitate an investigation.

Participation in SafeCams8 is voluntary. There is no obligation to maintain a camera's video surveillance capability or to provide video footage to the NOPD.

To register your surveillance camera(s), visit:  If a camera owner or operator would prefer to send the SafeCams8 registration information to the 8th District by email instead, please email the information to

If you are considering installing cameras and need some advice or would like more information on SafeCams8, send an email to Robert Simms at  or Larry Lane at
