Community Anti-Crime Walks

April 29, 2014

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 6:00 p.m., each district will conduct a Community Crime Walk in a targeted zone/neighborhood in their district. The following neighborhoods/zones will be targeted and citizen groups in the area have been invited to participate.

The following is a break-down of the locations targeted by the districts:

First District:  Begins at St. Philip and Dorgenois, to Tonti, from Tonti to Ursuline, back to Dorgenois.

Second District: Starting and ending at Hickory and Fern St. On Fern St to Green. On Green St. to Burdette. On Burdette St. to Spruce. On Spruce St. to Adams. On Adams St. To Panola. On Panola St. to Short. On Short St. to Cohn. On Cohn St. to Fern. On Fern St. to Hickory St. End of walk approximate Distance is less than 1 mile.

Third District: The 3rd District Anti-crime walk will begin and end at Porteous @ Argonne in the Lakeview area, West on Porteous to Gen. Diaz, Left on Gen. Diaz to Bragg, Left on Bragg to Argonne, Left on Argonne to Porteous, Porteous @ Argonne.

Fourth District: The Fourth District Anti-Crime Walk will be starting and ending at Alix and Verret Streets in the Algiers Point area. The distance of the walk is less than one (1) mile. Commander Shaun Ferguson was recently assigned as the new Commander of the Fourth Police District. He is looking forward to meeting as many residents of the Algiers community as possible. We hope to see you there!

Fifth District: The 5th District April 30, 2014 crime walk will start at Pauger and St. Claude, head lake bound on Pauger towards North Robertson. Once at North Robertson uptown bound to St. Anthony. Then riverbound on St. Anthony to Henriette DeLille and then eastbound back to Pauger and St. Bernard and disband.

Sixth District: On Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at 6:00pm, the 6th district and members of the 6th district community will be holding an Anti-crime walk. The walk will start at the location of Simon Bolivar and Josephine Street. The walks will go down Josephine Street to Freret Street, then make a right on Josephine Street to St. Andrew Street. Down St. Andrew, making a stop in the 2300 block of South Liberty, then from South Liberty and St. Andrew to St. Andrew and Simon Bolivar.

Seventh District: NOPD 7TH District has partnered with the members of Farwood Subdivision for this month’s Crime Walk.  Officers from the 7th District will meet Mr. Calvin Spears and members of his community on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at 5:45pm. The start location will be at Farwood Dr @ Mayo Rd. We will proceed West on Farwood to Farwood Dr, North on Farwood Dr to Chadborne, East on Chadborne to Glengary, then South on Glengary back to Farwood.

Eighth District: Begins at Elysian Fields and Burgundy, proceed on Burgundy to Pauger, to Kelerec, to Chartres to Frenchmen, ending at Frenchmen and North Rampart (12 blocks).
