The Real Estate & Records Division buys, sells, and leases all city-owned immovable property, inside and outside city limits. This section also maintains some historical records on parcels located in the City of New Orleans. Citizens can research property records during assigned times. The Real Estate and Records Division also provides vital information to government agencies City, State and Federal. Copies are provided for a modest fee.

Research

RER also acts as a historic repository for certain real estate records within the City’s geographical location. The Real Estate and Records Division also provides vital information to government agencies, City, State and Federal.

  • Citizens can research property records or gain information on some properties in the City of New Orleans.
  • Using historic records, RER acts as a first line of information for many abstractors before searching land records for hard-to-find legal instruments. 
  • Real Estate & Records does not have building plans or surveys of private citizen’s real property.  Please check with your closing attorney or call a survey company. 
  • To facilitate quicker service in person or online, please bring the property sq, assessment and municipal district, which can be found on the www.nolaassessor.com printout.
  • Note- Real Estate and Records is Not the tax assessor.  RER can not change or answer questions on Citizens tax assessments.  They can call or go to the 4th floor of City Hall to discuss.

Copies are provided for a modest fee.
