Mayor Landrieu and Councilmember Guidry to Hold District A Meeting on Thursday

NEW ORLEANS – On Thursday, July 30, Mayor Mitch Landrieu and Councilmember Susan Guidry will host a community meeting in City Council District A to discuss budget priorities as the City begins its 2016 budgeting for outcomes process. Other City officials attending include deputy mayors, New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Superintendent Michael Harrison, New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) Superintendent Tim McConnell and other department and agency leaders.

Mayor Landrieu Donates Funds to Help Restore Vandalized Law Enforcement Memorial

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu donated $2,500 from his campaign fund to support the restoration of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Officers Memorial after vandals damaged the solemn site on Sunday, July 26.

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Cancelled for Eastbank of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS - The Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB), in consultation with the state Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), cancelled the boil water advisory for residents and businesses on the Eastbank of New Orleans after the bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area was safe to drink and could be used normally for personal needs.

Heat Advisory for New Orleans Until 7 p.m. Today

NEW ORLEANS—The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory in the New Orleans area until 7 p.m. on Sat., July 25, 2015. The weather forecast indicates that the heat index in New Orleans is expected to exceed 105 degrees, and these hot temperatures can become life-threatening if the proper precautions are not taken.

Update on Boil Water Advisory for Eastbank of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The precautionary boil water advisory for the Eastbank of New Orleans is still in effect. Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB), in consultation with the state Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), is currently testing water samples and will have results later today. S&WB will notify residents and businesses when the boil water advisory is cancelled.

Season Nine of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues

NEW ORLEANS—On Sat., July 25, 2015 the City of New Orleans, the New Orleans Pelicans and PlayNola will continue the ninth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, which provides safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative.

Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Issued for Eastbank of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS – The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans (S&WB) has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the Eastbank of New Orleans. Residents in the affected area are advised not to drink, make ice, brush teeth, bathe or shower, prepare or rinse food with tap water unless it has been properly disinfected until further notice.

NORDC to Host a Family Fun Walk at Pontchartrain Park

NEW ORLEANS— The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will host an “old school,” ’80s style Family Fun Walk featuring a 2.2 mile walk around Pontchartrain Park on Sat., July 25 from 9 a.m. to noon to celebrate Park and Recreation Month.  The course will include breaks with fun activities including hula hopping, jump rope, sack race, basketball, tennis, golf and baseball.  The event will also include raffle prizes.

Traffic Advisory for 2015 Regional Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses

NEW ORLEANS –Today, the City of New Orleans issued a traffic advisory for the area around the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Starting on Fri., July 24, 2015 at 7:00 a.m., residents should expect heavy traffic around the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in both the river-bound and lake-bound lanes of Poydras Street from Loyola Ave. to Claiborne Ave. as residents and visitors participate in worship services for the 2015 Regional Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Noise Variance Notice for the Lower Garden District Neighborhood

NEW ORLEANS—The City of New Orleans Health Department has issued a notice of noise variance to New Orleans residents in the Lower Garden District neighborhood for Fri., July 24, 2015 through Sat., July 25, 2015. A construction company will conduct outdoor work, which includes pouring concrete that will exceed the ambient noise levels beginning at 2:00 a.m. Fri., July 24, 2015, and ending at noon on Sat., July 25, 2015, for the Kingsley House Taylor Campus project at 1572 Constance Street.
