Mayor Landrieu, City and State Officials, and FEMA to Reopen Newly Renovated Gernon Brown Recreation Center

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, New Orleans City Council, City and State officials, and FEMA will reopened the newly renovated Gernon Brown Recreation Center at 1001 Harrison Avenue at the corner of Harrison Avenue and Marconi Drive across from City Park. This $2 million project restored the existing building which served as a community center and recreational facility before it was damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Delgado Community Health Clinic to be Closed Tuesday, August 19, 2014

NEW ORLEANS, LA - Tomorrow, the Delgado Community Health Clinic at 517 North Rampart Street will be closed to the public so that repairs can be performed following a power outage.

New Orleans Department Superintendent Ronal Serpas Announces Retirement: District 7 Commander Michael Harrison Named Interim Chief

NEW ORLEANS, LA— New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Superintendent Ronal W. Serpas, Ph.D., announced today that he will be retiring after more than 30 years of public service. Serpas was hired as NOPD Superintendent in May 2010.

Mayor Landrieu and Council Member Ramsey to Hold District C Meeting on Monday

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Monday, August 18, 2014 Mayor Mitch Landrieu will launch a series of community meetings in each council district to discuss 2015 budget priorities. The first meeting will be co-hosted by District C Councilmember Nadine Ramsey. They will be joined by Deputy Mayors, NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas, NOFD Superintendent Tim McConnell and department and agency heads.

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans and the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) announced that three NORDC pools will be open to the public on weekends beginning tomorrow Saturday, August 16, 2014 until Sunday, August 31, 2014.

City Houses Homesless Individuals From Under Pontchartrain Expressway

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, in keeping with Mayor Landrieu’s efforts to prevent, reduce, and end homelessness in New Orleans, the City announced that it has sheltered 84 homeless individuals formerly living underneath the U.S. 90/Pontchartrain Expressway overpass from South Claiborne Avenue to St. Charles Avenue.

City Announces Changes to the Communications Team

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans announced that the Press Secretary for the Mayor’s Office of Communications has been immediately assigned to the New Orleans Police Department to manage the Public Information Office. Starting today, Tyler Gamble will serve as the interim Communications Director, managing a three-person staff and serving as the NOPD spokesperson.

City Marks Opening of New NOPD Fifth District Police Station

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Yesterday, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, NOPD Superintendent Ronal Serpas, elected officials, and FEMA marked the opening of the new NOPD Fifth District Police Station at 3900 North Claiborne Avenue. The new $7.2 million NOPD Fifth District Police Station is a 17,600 square foot facility will support hundreds of officers and provide critical support to the St. Claude and Lower Ninth Ward communities.

City of New Orleans, Walmart Announce Grand Opening of Gentilly Walmart

NEW ORLEANS, LA – A new Walmart opened Wednesday, Aug. 13, following a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony at 7 a.m. The new store is conveniently located at 4301 Chef Menteur Highway and is open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Mayor Landrieu Announces Series of Community Meetings As Part of the 2015 Budgeting Process

NEW ORLEANS, LA—Today, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced a series of community meetings in each council district to discuss 2015 budget priorities beginning with District C on Monday, August, 18. These meetings are intended to gather input as part of the Budgeting for Outcomes process.
