NEW ORLEANS, LA-- The Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, in consultation with the State Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH), has cancelled a boil water advisory for residents and businesses in Venetian Isles.
The precautionary advisory was cancelled after the bacteriological tests confirmed that water in the area was safe to drink and could be used as normal for personal needs.
Customers are advised to flush their internal and external plumbing by running water through their systems.
The original advisory was issued on Friday, August 31, out of an abundance of caution by the Sewerage and Water Board in consultation with DHH.
SWB Executive Director Marcia St. Martin said, “We are pleased that the tests proved negative and that we can cancel the boil water advisory at this time. We issued the advisory in the best interest of our customers and with an abundance of caution to ensure their health and safety. I commend the fast work by SWB employees from several departments and the excellent cooperation of DHH officials.”
