NEW ORLEANS, LA - This week, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission’s (NORDC) Movies in the Park program continues.
On August 24, 2012, NORDC kicked off the fall season of its movie screening program for residents with “Kung Fu Panda 2” at Digby playground.
Throughout the fall, residents have the opportunity to watch family movies for free on a large portable outdoor movie screen in grassy areas across the City. Movies will begin at 7:30 p.m., weather permitting. If the movie is cancelled due to weather, NORDC will schedule a make-up date.
NORDC will provide a large portable outdoor movie screen, licensed DVD, security, trash receptacles and satellite restrooms. Community organizations and neighborhood associations will serve as the host by choosing a movie from NORDC’s inventory as well as providing space, concessions, a volunteer cleanup crew, and a table showcasing upcoming neighborhood events.
Movies in the Park is free and open to the public. However, participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and no pets, alcoholic beverages, illegal drugs, firearms, weapons, smoking, or cooking is allowed during the event.
