NEW ORLEANS, LA — Mayor Mitch Landrieu issued the following statement today after the passage of the 2013 Operating Budget by the New Orleans City Council:
“I’m pleased that for the third year in a row, we proposed, and the Council passed, a fiscally-prudent and balanced budget that protects public safety.
“As we have noted, this 2013 budget, like 2012, is going to be a challenge. In 2013, we will continue our strategy of cutting smart, reorganizing and investing. We’re going to keep our nose to the grindstone to create a more flexible, entrepreneurial and forward-leaning City Hall so we can get the biggest bang for the buck and deliver the best services we possibly can for our residents. Today’s budget amendments had the support of our administration and add vital funding for two new NOPD recruit classes in 2013.
“I look forward to continuing to partner with the City Council in 2013 as we build a strong foundation for the future of our city.”
