Mayor Landrieu, City and State officials, and FEMA to reopen newly renovated St. Roch Park

June 30, 2013

NEW ORLEANS, LA – On Monday, July 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City and State Officials, and FEMA will reopen the newly renovated St. Roch Park at 1835 St. Roch Avenue. This project restored the existing park which was damaged during Hurricane Katrina. Funding for this $1.8 million redevelopment came from FEMA recovery dollars, Disaster Community Development Block Grant (D-CDBG) funding, and City Bond funds. St. Roch Park was originally opened in 1910 and is the third oldest playground in the city.

St. Roch Park’s restoration includes a new baseball field, resurfaced basketball court, repairs to the fences and gates, upgrades to the restroom facilities and concession stand, and a new brick plaza with benches and picnic tables.
