Mayor Landrieu Provides End of the Year Update on Successful 2014 Capital Improvement Program

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, Mayor Landrieu recorded the 2014 progress in completing construction and breaking ground on new facility and capital improvement projects citywide. In 2014, the City completed twenty-three priority facilities with a total investment of over $88.8 million. Since May 2010, the Landrieu Administration has completed 136 capital improvement projects across New Orleans totaling $223 million.

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans Health Department, in partnership with the New Orleans-based Center for Restorative Approaches, launched a new project to promote conflict resolution in schools.  As part of Mayor Mitch Landrieu’s comprehensive murder reduction strategy, NOLA FOR LIFE, the program will expand the use of restorative approaches in New Orleans public schools.

City Re-Opens Application Process For Certificates of Public Necessity and Convenience Due to Changes in Industry Regulations

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans announced that the Taxicab and For Hire Vehicle Bureau has re-opened the application process for qualified individuals or companies to apply for Certificates of Public Necessity and Convenience (CPNCs). The application window has been reopened to allow the application and hearing process to reflect the changes in industry regulations which the City Council adopted since the last application period.

Civil Service Commission Approves Parental leave for City of New Orleans Employees

NEW ORLEANS, LA – Today, the City of New Orleans’ Civil Service Commission approved rules that will create a new category of leave for employees during the childbirth and adoption process. The new “Parental Leave,” as part of Mayor Landrieu’s Great Place to Work Initiative, grants additional weeks of paid leave on top of the employee’s accumulated sick and annual leave.
