Mayor LaToya Cantrell today was joined by Congressman Troy A. Carter, Sr. (LA-02), New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick, NOPD Crime Lab Director Dr. Shamika Kelley and community organization Ubuntu Village, along with several criminal justice partners to announce over $3.3 million in federal FY 2024 Community Project Funding grants for criminal justice initiatives in the City of New Orleans. This funding will support Violence Intervention programming and the NOPD Crime Lab.
On March 11, 2021, President Joe Biden signed the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) of 2021 (H.R. 1319) into law. The $1.9 trillion package is designed to directly combat the COVID 19- pandemic and its impacts to states and municipalities. The City of New Orleans received $388 million in ARPA funds and as of February 2024, $245 million has been spent and another $48.5 million has been obligated, representing 76 percent of the City’s total appropriation.

The City of New Orleans will extend the Cooperative Endeavor Agreement (CEA) between Total Community Action (TCA), Inc. and the City to continue acting as the fiscal agent for the Low Barrier Shelter (LBS) through May 31.
The City of New Orleans today reminded residents that the Department of Public Works (DPW) contractor Impetus Infrastructure, LLC will be performing a closure leading up to the intersection of Freret Street and S. Carrollton Avenue on April 4 through April 5 to accommodate the underground utility work as part of the East Carrollton Group B & C Project. During this time, South Carrollton Avenue from Burthe Street to Zimple Street will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Department of Public Works' (DPW) contractor Compliance EnviroSystems, LLC will be performing drainage assessments and cleaning on Earhart Boulevard that will require temporary lane closures on southbound Loyola Avenue and Earhart Boulevard.
