City of New Orleans Announces 2023 Property Tax Bills Will Be Available on or before January 1

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that property tax bills will be available to residents on or before Jan. 1, 2023.

Residents will be able to access tax bills online before receiving them in the mail. A notice informing customers of the date property owners can pay online will be available, and homeowners will have until Jan. 31, 2023 to submit tax bill payments before interest accrues at a monthly rate of one percent.

To make the payment process more efficient, the Bureau of Treasury has offered several options for residents to make tax payments:

  • Mail payments with the scannable bill stub using the enclosed envelope
    • Accepted forms of payment are check, money order and cashier’s check only
  • Pay online on the City's website (available 24/7 – no weather or parking concerns)
    • There is no convenience fee when using a checking account (e-check)
    • Credit/debit card use is available with a 2.49 percent processing fee
    • Payment is posted effective the date the bank payment is authorized
    • Only payments of the entire tax bill are accepted on the website
  • Curbside drop-off is available Friday, Jan. 27, Monday, Jan. 30 and Tuesday, Jan. 31
    • Accepted forms of payment are check, money order or cashier’s check only
    • Be sure to include the bill stub and indicate the property address and bill number
    • No receipt will be provided
  • Public libraries throughout the city will be stationed as quick-serve drop-off only locations on Friday, Jan. 27, Monday, Jan. 30 and Tuesday, Jan. 31. The following locations will serve as drop-off locations: 
    • East New Orleans Regional Library, 5641 Read Blvd. 
    • Norman Mayer Library, 3001 Gentilly Blvd. 
    • Mid-City Library, 4140 Canal St.  
    • Algiers Regional Library, 3014 Holiday Drive

City employees will be available at each drop-off location from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Please submit sealed envelopes containing no more than three property tax stubs and payments. As a reminder, cash will not be accepted, and receipts will not be provided.
