Film New Orleans Production Coordinator

Description

The City of New Orleans Film Office is a department within the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy and is responsible for marketing the city to the film industry; intakes, manages and issues film permits; collects state and local industry data; and supports film economic development for the city and in partnership with the state.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Production Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Film New Orleans.
  • Intakes requests for filming including general filming and location filming.  Works with productions to ensure that the requests are correct and consistent.
  • Reviews film permit requests considering impact to the community including businesses and requires productions to revise request accordingly.
  • Trains and becomes efficient in utilizing the city’s permitting digital platform LAMA.
  • Loads permits into the LAMA digital platform.
  • Ensures that filming notifications are distributed to the appropriate City Council offices.
  • Collects and maintains a database of state and local film data.
  • Processes Film Office invoices and maintains a budget spreadsheet.
  • As requested by the Film Director monitors and visits film location sets to ensure compliance with permits issued by the Film Office.
  • Assists Director with scheduling appointments and organizing meetings.

Required Education and Experience

  • Experience working in the film industry either as a creative or in the various film crafts is helpful but not required. 
  • Working towards a degree or earned a degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Advocacy

  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to effectively influence and direct the achievements of the Film Office and the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy objectives.
  • Fosters collaborative relationships with local film non-profits, organizations and economic development stakeholders.

Reporting

  • Prepares reports as requested by the Director of the Film Office and Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy on the performance of the Film Office.
  • Utilizes system tools and reports to collect, arrange and analyze information in a useful and understandable way.
  • Manages the creation of analytical reports to monitor program effectiveness and document economic impact of the film industry, cultural economy, and creative industries.
