City Passes 2016 Budget

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the New Orleans City Council unanimously approved the passage of the City’s 2016 Capital and Operating budgets, totaling $483.1 million and $601.7 million respectively. “Today, the City Council unanimously approved our sixth balanced budget that is focused on, and a result of, the priorities that our citizens set out for all of us,” Mayor Landrieu said

Mayor Landrieu Announces Working Group to Address City's Long-Term Infrastructure Needs

Established by Executive Order by Mayor Landrieu, the Fix My Streets Financing Working Group has been charged with developing recommendations about how the City can pay for interior street repairs

The Fix My Streets Financing Working Group will be comprised of members with expertise in finance, business, construction, engineering, transportation and civic engagement.

2015 Bayou Classic Parking Instructions and Traffic Reminders

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of events for the 2015 Bayou Classic scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 26 through Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015. The public is encouraged to be patient and to prepare for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas by making transportation arrangements accordingly.

City Hall Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

NEW ORLEANS– Today, the City of New Orleans announced that City Hall will be closed Thursday, Nov. 26, 2015 and Friday, Nov. 27, 2015 in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Emergency personnel will operate as normal and will not be affected by this closure.

City Hall will resume normal business hours on Monday, Nov. 30, 2015.

NORDC to Host 69th Annual Division I Football Championship, Parade of Champions

NEW ORLEANS – Tomorrow, Nov. 21, 2015, the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will host its 69th Annual Division I Football Championship games, Parade of Champions and award ceremony at Joe W. Brown Victory Stadium. The parade and football championship games are sponsored by Chevron and are free and open to the public.

Season Ten of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball Continues

NEW ORLEANS  —On Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, the City of New Orleans alongside the New Orleans Pelicans, Domino’s Pizza and PlayNola will continue the tenth season of NOLA FOR LIFE Midnight Basketball, which provides safe recreational opportunities in crime hot spots for young men through the game of basketball. Mentorship and educational support are also key components of this initiative.

Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City Council Announce 2016 Operating Budget Agreement

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined members of New Orleans City Council to announce agreement on the City’s 2016 Operating Budget. During today’s Regular Meeting, City Council voted on budget amendments and unanimously passed the $601.7 million operating budget. A final procedural vote on the 2016 Operating and Capital Budgets will occur on Dec. 1, 2015 making the City’s 2016 Budget official.

Mayor Landrieu, Local, State, Federal Official to provide update on Emergency Preparedness Activities

NEW ORLEANS – Tomorrow, Mayor Mitch Landrieu will join local, state and federal officials to provide an update on the City of New Orleans’ emergency preparedness activities. As a major port and a tourist destination, the City regularly conducts exercises throughout the year in coordination with public and private organizations on the local, state and federal level to improve its ability to respond to a variety of incidents including natural or manmade disasters and terrorist threats.
