Updated: Traffic Advisory: Temporary Lane Closure on Earhart Boulevard and Loyola Avenue

Earhart Closures

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans today announced that the work scheduled to begin April 3 will now begin Thursday, April 4, weather permitting. Department of Public Works' (DPW) contractor Compliance EnviroSystems, LLC will be performing drainage assessments and cleaning on Earhart Boulevard that will require temporary lane closures on southbound Loyola Avenue and Earhart Boulevard.

Changes to traffic patterns and lane closures will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 4 and will remain in effect for approximately six hours. Public safety is top priority; signage and traffic control measures, such as barrels and fencing, will be onsite to direct drivers and pedestrians.

During this temporary lane closure, crews will be working within the closed lanes performing assessments and cleaning drainage lines and catch basins. Vehicular traffic will be temporarily reduced to one lane along Loyola Avenue approaching Earhart Boulevard, continuing for approximately two blocks along Earhart Boulevard (see map).

This closure is being held as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA): Drainage Cleaning Improvements. Specifically, this drainage cleaning is part of the $4 million DPW755 - ARPA: Drainage System Improvements – Districts B & C project from DPW and is funded through ARPA.
