Paint Reclamation Project by the City of New Orleans and the Green Project Begins Tuesday, April 30

Paint Reclamation

NEW ORLEANS — For the seventh year, the City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation is partnering with The Green Project on a Paint Reclamation Project. From Tuesday, April 30 through Saturday, May 4, residents will be able to pick up reusable paint processed from the City’s Annual Household Hazardous Waste Materials Collection Day that was held on April 20. Orleans Parish residents dropped off a significant amount of paint at the event, which welcomed more than 700 vehicles.

This project diverts usable paint from disposal, provides residents with usable paint for free, offers residents a way to recycle household hazardous waste and protects our environment.

Usable water-based and oil-based paint will be reclaimed, sorted into like colors and available for the community to pick up for free. This event is open to all residents, and no sign up is required. Residents are invited to come from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting Tuesday, April 30 through Saturday, May 4 at the City's Recycling Drop-Off Center, located at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave.

GUIDELINES

  • Paint can only be picked up during the days and times listed above
  • Once taken off-site, paint cannot be returned to the Recycling Drop-Off Center or The Green Project
  • It is the responsibility of those picking up paint to check for final quality and color determinations, based on their needs
