Winter Weather, Jan. 12-18

The National Weather Service forecasts freezing temperatures in the New Orleans area beginning Friday, Jan. 12 through Thursday, Jan. 18. A mix of very light wintry precipitation is possible in the evening of Tuesday, Jan. 16, but no accumulation is anticipated. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions during winter weather.

Free Smoke Alarm Installation Program

The New Orleans Fire Department is offering to install smoke alarms free of charge to its citizens.   NOFD Public Affairs coordinate the efforts with Suppression Division who will come to citizens home and install up to two (2) Smoke alarms in a residence. Batteries will also be replaced in the smoke alarms of elderly or physically challenged persons who cannot change their batteries themselves.

If you or someone you know needs a smoke alarm installed or their battery replaced complete the  Program Request Form or call (504) 658-4714.
