The City of New Orleans announced on March 12, 2024 that it will receive a $61.5M award from the Reconnecting Communities and Neighborhoods Program from the US Department of Transportation to improve safety and mobility along the I-10 Service Roads in New Orleans East.

Broad Street Pedestrian Safety Improvements

The Safe Routes to Public Places Program (SRTPPP) project is part of the overall Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development. Under this guise the City of New Orleans – Department of Public Works is working in tandem to ensure pedestrian and mobility safety.

A.P. Tureaud Ave Street Improvements

As part of the $23 million Bayou St John, Fairgrounds, Seventh Ward Group B project, the Department of Public Works is implementing safety improvements to the project that already has completed Patch, Mill, Overlay and Patch Concrete work. Completed improvements include repaved roadway, ADA-compliant curb ramps and repaired sidewalks.
