November 12, 2021 | From RoadWork
The $10.6M Village De L’Est Group C project broke ground in January 2020 and continues to make significant progress improving infrastructure in the Village De L’Est neighborhood despite days lost to high water levels in the lagoon. The project has currently worked to return to normal operations following the severe weather events of Hurricane Ida. This full-depth reconstruction project was designed by Hartman Engineering, Inc. and is being constructed by Durr Heavy Construction, LLC. Current focus of work remains on North Nemours Street with installation of waterline and sewer line replacements. The contractor moves toward project completion, which is expected in late fall 2021.
The $2.9M Old Spanish Trail (Nighthart Street – Sherwood Drive) project, which broke ground in February 2021, continues the full-depth reconstruction that was designed by Mott MacDonald and is being constructed by Beverly Construction Company, LLC. Crews have finalized drainage and waterline installation and are moving onto roadway restoration on the northbound lane of Old Spanish Trail. Paving operations are expected to complete by early November.
Beverly Construction, LLC., crews have installed new sewer and drainage lines and are currently installing new waterlines on Tilbury Road and Forum Boulevard. Once all underground utilities have been replaced, the Little Woods Group C Full-Depth Reconstruction project will perform roadway reconstruction, removal and replacement of all sidewalks, driveway aprons, and Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps.
Beverly Construction, LLC., crews have installed new sewer and drainage lines and are currently placing new waterlines on Avalon Way at Heritage Drive. Once all underground utilities have been replaced, crews on the Little Woods Group B Full-Depth Reconstruction project will perform roadway reconstruction, as well as removal and replacement of all sidewalks, driveway aprons, and ADA-compliant curb ramps.
Through close collaboration with the Department of Public Works (DPW), Command Construction began planning for work along Downman Road that will require a temporary traffic shift on the $6.4M Viavant-Lake Catherine Group C project this fall. Residents and businesses will be notified before work begins.
Palmisano Construction crews in close collaboration with Sewerage and Water Board continued waterline work on Read Boulevard West Group C project this summer. While a substantial amount of the waterline work is complete, critical waterline-related work at Chef Menteur Highway is under review by the Louisiana Department of Transportation Department (LaDOTD). Because Chef Menteur Highway is a state roadway, there must be careful coordination between all agencies to ensure minimal impacts to the community.
Palmisano Construction crews are working on the Plum Orchard/West Lake Forest Group B project. Work on this project began this spring with excavating in preparation for waterline and paving operations. Crews are currently working on North and South Coronet, Flake and Bentley streets.
Command Construction crews, in close collaboration with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, continue waterline work on the Lower Ninth Ward South Group A infrastructure improvement project. Crews have completed a substantial amount of the installations and tie-ins on this project and will commence paving immediately after lines are tied in to the existing water supply.
Effective April 2021 work on the Lower Ninth Ward Northwest Group B project has been paused. The work is more than 80% complete and expected to resume before the close of the year. Residents will be notified of remaining scope work and new project timelines prior to work resuming.
Fleming Construction crews are currently 60% complete with the Lower Ninth Ward Northeast Group B infrastructure improvement project. Crews have completed 90% of the waterline work and over 80% of the drainage work. Paving work has been completed on parts of Tupelo and Law streets, with expected completion of paving on North Tonti and Nina streets by mid-October, weather permitting.
