July 19, 2022 | From New Orleans Fire Department
On Tuesday, July 19, 2022, at 2:28 a.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received a 911 call reporting a residential fire at 1735 First Street. The first NOFD company arrived at 2:35 a.m. to find a blighted unoccupied home heavily involved in flames which had extended to neighboring homes and immediately struck a second alarm at 2:33 a.m., and a third alarm at 2:40 a.m.

The City of New Orleans has been in the process of conducting much needed renovations and upgrades to several New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) engine house locations. Most recently renovations have been completed at both Engine 38 (4940 Clara St.) and Engine 27/Ladder 11 (2118 Elysian Fields Ave.), allowing NOFD Fire Operations personnel to move back into their respective permanent quarters.

On Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 3:00 pm, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a 911 call reporting a fire at the Days Inn Hotel. The first responding fire company arrived at 4180 Old Gentilly Road at 3:05 pm to find a two-story hotel with smoke coming from the first and second floors through several windows. The hotel has 60 rooms and 30 were occupied at the time of the fire with approximately 60 guests.
