On Thursday, April 11, 2024, the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) received notification that the case involving the fire deaths of three (3) children at 4911 America Street on October 18, 2023, was brought to close with the guilty plea of their father.

Early Morning Fire Destroys Two Properties in the Seventh Ward

On Sunday, March 31, 2024, at 4:26 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a 911 call reporting a fire near the 1800 block of N. Galvez St. Arriving on the scene at 4:31 a.m., firefighters found a large abandoned two-story, multi-unit dwelling, at the corner of N. Johnson and St Anthony Streets, already heavily involved in fire.

Two-Alarm Fire Causes Damage to Three Homes on Hickory St.

On Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 11:02 a.m., the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) responded to a report of a fire at a home in the 7800 block of Hickory St. The first of sixteen NOFD apparatuses, supported by forty-seven Fire Operations personnel, arrived at 7812 Hickory St. at 11:07 a.m.

Today the city of New Orleans and the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) held a promotion ceremony for NOFD Recruit Class R-03-23. Recruit Class R-03-23 consisted of twenty New Orleans Fire Department recruits and two St. Bernard Fire Department recruits, who endured a twenty-four-week training regimen focusing on all aspects of firefighting,

City of New Orleans Hosts Readiness Event to Enhance Public Safety during Special Major Events

 In partnership with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS)’s Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office (CWMD), the City of New Orleans is hosting a multiday readiness event from Monday, March 18 through Friday, March 22. The purpose of this initiative is continuous collaboration, preparedness and improvements for local, state and federal first responders to address tactical, radiological, nuclear and chemical scenarios and to enhance future operations.

UPDATE: TWO-ALARM HOUSE FIRE ON KERLEREC ST.

Wednesday nights two-alarm fire, in a vacant property at 1130 Kelerec St., has been determined to have been accidentally caused by vagrants squatting in the vacant home. New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) Fire Investigators were able to establish that two squatters, an adult male and adult female, had been living in the vacant property for approximately six months.

NOFD RESPONDS TO A TWO ALARM HOUSE FIRE ON KERLEREC ST.

On Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at 9:44 p.m. the New Orleans Fire Department (NOFD) was dispatched to 1130 Kerlerec Street. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with a working fire that was consuming the first and second story of a wood framed abandoned dwelling.
