NEW ORLEANS — Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined Gov. John Bel Edwards and NASA Marshall Space Flight Center Director Todd May to announce significant growth at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility, including progress and job growth in the assembly of NASA’s Orion crew capsule and Space Launch System rocket, the major components being built in New Orleans that will convey future U.S. missions to space.

NEW ORLEANS - Today, Condor Airlines officially begins seasonal, non-stop flights from New Orleans to Frankfurt, Germany. This route is the second European service to launch from New Orleans in 2017, returning trans-Atlantic service to the Gulf South region for the first time in more than three decades. Twice-weekly flights for the 2017 season will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays from May 3, 2017, through October 4, 2017, from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu, City officials, representatives from Robért Fresh Market and Hope Enterprise Corporation (HOPE) announced that renovation and construction work will begin on a new, full-service grocery store and retail parcel serving in the Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods. The grocery store will employ 30 full-time and 50 part-time employees and create over 150 construction jobs.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans in partnership with StayLocal, released a Road Construction Toolkit for New Orleans Businesses. The toolkit features important contact information, practical tips and technical assistance so businesses can continue to thrive during road construction. At this time, the City is gearing up a $2.4 billion capital improvement program to repair and rebuild 400 miles of roads and subsurface infrastructure.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, British Airways announced it will begin year-round service to London from New Orleans beginning March 27, 2017. This new international non-stop flight departs four times per week from Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) to London Heathrow (LHR). From London Heathrow, British Airways’ passengers can connect seamlessly to over 130 destinations in Europe and beyond. This announcement welcomes the Airport’s sixth international destination.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Condor, a premier leisure airline, announced it will begin seasonal service twice weekly from Frankfurt, Germany to New Orleans from May 3, 2017 to September 27, 2017. This is New Orleans’ first non-stop flight to Europe since the 1980s. The Frankfurt International Airport is a hub for Condor where passengers can seamlessly connect to more than 120 cities in the Eastern Hemisphere through Condor’s extensive network of partner airlines.
