NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans Health Department (NOHD) announced that it was recognized by the National Association of County & City Health Officials’ Project Public Health Ready (PPHR) program for the department’s ability to plan for, respond to and recover from public health emergencies. NOHD’s emergency preparedness program plans for and responds to all public health emergencies in New Orleans including natural disasters, disease outbreaks, mass casualty incidents and more.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu joined Councilmembers, City Officials and CVS Pharmacy executives to celebrate the grand opening of the new 13,000-square-foot CVS Pharmacy at 5000 N. Claiborne Ave. in the historic Lower Ninth Ward. This new CVS Pharmacy, which is the first major retailer to open in the Lower Ninth Ward since Hurricane Katrina, features drive-thru pharmacy services, a wide range of high quality health, beauty, personal care products and healthy snack options.

NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) will finish the spring season of Movies in the Park this week with a double feature. On Friday, May 20, “Jurassic World” will be featured at Joe W. Brown Park, 5601 Read Blvd. and hosted by Friends of Joe W. Brown Park. In the event of inclement weather, the movie will be shown at Joe W. Brown Recreation Center, 5601 Read Blvd.

NEW ORLEANS – TOMORROW, Mayor Landrieu will join Councilmembers, City officials and CVS/pharmacy to celebrate the grand opening of the new store at 5000 N. Claiborne Ave. in the historic Lower Ninth Ward. CVS/pharmacy is the first national retailer to open a store in the Lower Ninth Ward since Hurricane Katrina. This CVS/pharmacy brings 20 new full- and part-time permanent jobs to the community.

NEW ORLEANS – Today, Mayor Mitch Landrieu announced that the City of New Orleans has been designated by the White House as a Summer Impact Hub to encourage the development of summer and year-round jobs for young adults. The Summer Impact Hubs are a part of the White House’s inter-agency effort to support 16 communities so that they can upgrade and expand jobs, learning, meals and violence reduction programs for young people this summer and year-round.
