City Launches #EquityNewOrleans Initiative

NEW ORLEANS – The City of New Orleans hosted the first of several community listening sessions to launch #EquityNewOrleans on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, at Ashe Powerhouse Theater in Central City. #EquityNewOrleans is a citywide initiative of the Office of Mayor Mitch Landrieu to assess the role of equity in City government using a data-driven process that prioritizes stakeholder engagement and will inform the development of future strategies and decision-making within City government.

NEW ORLEANS –Today, the City of New issued parking instructions and reminders in advance of parades and events scheduled for Saturday, June 18, 2016, until Wednesday, June 22, 2016. The public is encouraged to be patient and prepared for heavy vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the specified areas and to make transportation arrangements accordingly.

Heat Advisory for Thursday, June 16 until Friday, June 17

NEW ORLEANS—The National Weather Service issued a Heat Advisory in the New Orleans area from Thursday, June 16, at 11 a.m. until Friday, June 17, 2016, at 7 p.m. The weather forecast indicates that the heat index in New Orleans is expected to exceed 105 degrees, and these hot temperatures can become life-threatening if the proper precautions are not taken.

Harrell Pool and Clubhouse Closed until Further Notice to Repair Collapsed Sewer Line

NEW ORLEANS – Today, the City of New Orleans announced that Harrell Pool and Clubhouse at 2202 Leonidas St. will be closed to the public until further notice while the New Orleans Recreation Development Commission (NORDC) conducts repairs to a collapsed sewer line at the facility.
